KONARK SAMBA

An Exploration of Light, Devotion, & Legacy

Samba uvāca - as narrated by Samba, son of Krishna

INTRODUCTION

THE CALL OF LIGHT

Light is never just light.
It is memory. It is time. It is faith.

I am Samba, born of Krishna, and this is the story I carry of Surya Dev, the eternal witness, and of devotion that turned stone into prayer.

This is KONARK SAMBA

The First Light

आद्यप्रकाश

Before form, before colour, before rhythm,
there was प्रकाश.

Surya Dev rose not merely in the sky, but within creation itself measuring time, awakening earth, setting life into motion.

Every thread in this collection begins here - in warmth, in radiance, in the discipline of light.

Grace of Sanjana

संज्ञा - सौम्यता

Even the fiercest light seeks balance. Sanjana, the first companion of Surya Dev, brought gentleness to brilliance.

Where the sun was fire, she was calm. Where power surged, she offered grace. Her presence reminds us - that softness is not weakness, it is restraint. Silks move quietly in this chapter, colours soften, embroidery breathes.

The Power of Brilliance

तेजसः प्रभाव

The sun is worshipped because it is relentless. Its brilliance sustains, but it also demands reverence.

Surya Dev’s radiance was absolute - unyielding, consuming, divine. It shaped days and destinies alike. In this phase, form sharpens.

Textures assert themselves. Light becomes intense, deliberate, commanding. This is not ornament. This is presence.

Distance and Silence

विरह एवं मौन

Where light grows powerful, silence often follows. Not every story is told through action - some are shaped through pause, through distance, through quiet understanding.

This chapter holds space - between intensity and reflection, between radiance and restraint. Garments here speak softly, allowing shadow, depth, and stillness to coexist with light.

Penance and Purification

तपस्या एवं शुद्धि

Even the divine must transform. Through penance comes clarity. Through restraint comes renewal.

This is a chapter of return - where brilliance learns humility, and form is purified of excess. Natural fibres, reused materials,
handworked surfaces - each element carries intention, not indulgence.

Nothing here is rushed. Everything is earned.

Light as Legacy

कृतज्ञ प्रकाश - कोणार्क

I speak now not as a witness, but as a devotee. I, Samba, bow to the sun - for healing, for forgiveness, for grace.

My devotion rose as stone and geometry, as rhythm and shadow, as the Sun Temple of Konark.

This final chapter is gratitude - where faith becomes architecture, and light becomes eternal. This is not an ending.

It is a remembrance.
